Our Story
Stand Images was founded with a clear vision: to transform athletic recognition from traditional photos and plaques into awards that today's athletes are excited to receive and proud to display. The company's roots trace back to founder Dick Richel, a longtime teacher, coach, and athletic director who dedicated more than three decades to education, including 13 of those years as Head Basketball coach at Lewiston High School in Idaho.
During those years, he saw firsthand that athletes deserved more than generic photos or plaques — items too often tucked away in storage rather than displayed with pride. From that belief, Stand Images was born.
Over the past decade, the company has crafted innovative, personalized awards for universities, high schools, and clubs across the nation — including the honor of supplying Stand Up Awards for the Baylor Women's Basketball National Championship Banquet in 2019 (see below). The mission remains simple: to create awards that not only stand up, but truly stand out.
Where It All Started
In 2015, WSU Head Coach Mike Leach called to order 20 standups for his team room to display for prospective recruits. That first college order marked the beginning of Stand Images' journey with collegiate athletics — and the start of countless team rooms transformed with custom awards that celebrate athletes and inspire the next generation.
